YammerShell is a handy little tool that helps you use Yammer, the social network for businesses, right from PowerShell. Yammer is all about connecting people—like leaders and communities—across different companies. Even though it has its own platform, you can also access Yammer through this cool applet called YammerShell.
So, what’s the deal with YammerShell? Well, it uses Yammer's REST API. This means everything works smoothly without any funny business! But here's the catch: to log in properly, you need to go through OAuth for authentication. Plus, you’ll need to register an application first to get into all the good stuff on the Yammer API.
Once your app is registered and you've got your Bearer Token ready, you're all set to launch YammerShell. To do this, just open up a batch file called '_StartYammerShell.bat.' When that pops up, you'll see a line with '1234' in it. Just swap out '1234' with your token value. If you’re looking for more detailed instructions on how to use YammerShell, check out their GitHub page where you'll find a list of CmdLets. These CmdLets include all the commands you can use within the module!
You might be wondering why bother with YammerShell? It's lightweight and makes using Yammer via PowerShell super easy! Since it runs on the real REST API from Yammer, you don’t have to worry about safety issues. It’s perfect for anyone wanting to streamline their communication within their organization.
If you're looking for a way to connect better at work and make your life easier with social networking tools like Yammer, give YammerShell a try!
