Yabause is a cool open-source project that lets you play Sega Saturn games right on your Mac. You can easily run CDS or ISO files that hold your favorite classic arcade games without any fuss. Isn’t that awesome?
To kick things off, you'll want to head over to the Yabause File menu. Here, you can choose whether you want to run a CD-ROM, an Image, or even a BIOS pack. Don't forget! In the Yabause Preferences window, set up the path for your BIOS pack or MPEG ROM. You can also pick the default region, or let the app automatically figure it out for you.
In the Preferences area of Yabause, there are options to tweak both video and audio settings. You’ve got support for OpenGL Hardware Video Core and Software Video Core for video. For sound, it works great with Core Audio Sound Core too! And if you prefer peace and quiet while gaming, you can disable both video and audio feeds.
You can customize which keys do what for your controllers! Yabause allows you to set up two different key sets for two controllers. So whether you're playing solo or with a friend, you're all set!
Once you've got your game running, it’s super easy to manage things like pausing or resetting emulation whenever you want. Plus, there are handy hotkeys available: Control + 1 saves your game state; Option + 1 loads it back; Control + P takes screenshots; and Option + L or S brings up cheats lists! Pretty neat right?
Yabause is perfect for reliving those retro gaming moments by emulating Sega Saturn games on your Mac. It’s user-friendly and supports a vast collection of retro titles! Want to check if your favorite game is compatible? Take a look at this compatibility list.
