Description

VB Converter

VB Converter is a handy add-in made for companies that want to switch their whole VB applications over to Java. It's pretty cool because it installs with a Java version of Microsoft's ActiveX Data Objects, which they call jADO. Plus, the VB Converter toolbar fits right into the Visual Basic development setup, giving you even more control.

Key Features of VB Converter

Check out these awesome features:

  • Generates all-Java source code and bytecode from Visual Basic projects, including modules, classes, controls, and forms.

  • Converts full Visual Basic (3.0, 4.0, 5.0 & 6.0) applications to Java. It works as an add-in for VB 5 & 6 and can also be used as a command-line tool for VB versions 3 through 6.

  • The converted code can run as either a Java applet or a stand-alone Java application depending on how you set it up.

  • It converts ActiveX controls created in Visual Basic into Java code too!

  • Supports over 70 different Visual Basic controls and objects like Data, Adodc, Menu, and all those Windows Common Controls like ProgressBar and ListView.

  • Takes picture resources stored in binary frx files and turns them into jpeg images.

  • You can debug your Java apps right inside Visual Basic or any Java IDE like Borland JBuilder or Oracle JDeveloper.

  • Migrates DAO, RDO or ADO database access into Java using JDBC with a Java version of ADO objects.

  • Adds support for Data Bound controls which makes developing Java database applications super easy!

  • Adds JDBC support for creating applets that can pull data from databases like Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and many more!

  • Covers all Visual Basic data types such as Variant and Collection.

  • You can create VB interfaces using the Implements keyword too!

  • Automatic type casting means it handles conversions to native Java data types without any hassle.

  • Supports local file I/O operations easily.

  • You get options to generate either thin client applications using AWT or richer ones using swing-based controls in Java 2 apps! There's even a tech preview of generating apps with SWT for Lotus Expeditor from IBM if you're interested!

  • You can customize conversion rules if you want to add new controls or tweak how things get converted—just change some simple rules!

Your runtime Java classes can be shared royalty-free once you buy the product!
