What is UnZip FOR LINUX?

UnZip

UnZip is your go-to tool for getting files out of those .zip archives—also known as zipfiles. It's super handy and works well with both PKWARE's PKZIP and PKUNZIP tools from MS-DOS, along with Info-ZIP's Zip program. But the cool part? Our main focus is to make it portable and easy to use, no matter what system you’re on.

How Does UnZip Work?

With UnZip, you can easily list, test, or extract files from a .zip archive. You’ll often find these zipfiles on MS-DOS systems. By default, when you run it without any options, UnZip will grab all the files from your chosen zipfile and throw them into the current directory (and all its subdirectories).

Creating Zip Archives

If you're looking to create .zip archives, there's a buddy program called Zip that does just that! Both UnZip and Zip work well together and are compatible with archives made by PKZIP and PKUNZIP for MS-DOS. Just keep in mind that some options or default settings might be different between them. For instance, while UnZip will keep the original folder structure intact when extracting files, PKUNZIP tends to dump everything into the current directory.

What's New in This Release?

  • Support for VCEmbedded 3.0 WinCE compiler

  • Fixes for various minor bugs
