Unbound

Unbound is a cool image manager that helps you organize and preview your pictures without the fuss of Finder or iPhoto. Unlike iPhoto, which is packed with features you might never use, Unbound keeps it simple and stylish. You can easily group your pictures into albums, making it a breeze to find what you're looking for.

Getting Started with Unbound

The first time you open Unbound, it will ask you to set up your image library folder. Once you do that, the app scans your directory and imports all the images automatically. It even converts any subdirectories into albums! How neat is that?

Always Up-to-Date

One of the best things about Unbound is that it keeps an eye on your folder. This means whenever you make changes—like adding or deleting photos—Unbound updates right away to reflect those changes.

How It Works

Just keep in mind that any changes made in Unbound also affect your system. New albums create new folders, and if you delete images in the app, they’re gone from your computer too. So it's essential to be careful!

User-Friendly Interface

The layout of Unbound is pretty straightforward. In the main panel, you’ll see all your albums along with their thumbnails. When you click on an album, it splits into two sections: on the left side, there's a list of albums; on the right side, you'll find thumbnails for all the photos inside.

Share Your Memories

You can also share your images easily! The viewer has built-in social media tools so you can send photos via email or post them on Twitter, Facebook, or Flickr without leaving the app. Plus, if you store your image library folder in Dropbox, any updates sync across all your devices automatically!

A Few Things to Note

I’ve managed to import over 1300 photos organized into 27 albums using Unbound—though it took a little while! There were some crashes here and there while browsing through my collection. But don’t worry; if something goes wrong, there's an option to clear settings and start fresh.
