Typing Speedometer is a handy little widget that works with the Yahoo! Widget Engine. It's perfect for anyone curious about how fast they can type. If you’re a keyboard whiz, this tool is definitely for you!
The interface of Typing Speedometer is pretty cool! It looks like a gauge, and it’s super easy to use. You’ll see a needle that moves to show your current typing speed as you type in the text box.
You can reset the count or clear the text whenever you want. Plus, you get to pick how long you want to measure your speed—anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes! And guess what? Typing Speedometer can track your keystrokes no matter where you're typing on your screen, whether it’s in word processors or chatting apps.
This nifty app has three ways to measure your typing speed: words per minute (WPM), actual words, or characters per minute. In standard mode, it counts 5 keystrokes as one word. The other method counts true words, giving you flexibility based on how you type.
You can keep Typing Speedometer's frame above other windows so it's always visible. You also have options to ignore mouse clicks and prevent dragging the widget around. Plus, you can adjust how transparent it is!
This widget doesn’t hog system resources—it uses very little CPU and RAM! It responds quickly and won’t freeze up or crash unexpectedly. You’ll always get accurate WPM results!
Just remember, Typing Speedometer can't check if your words are correct. To get an accurate WPM score, make sure to type carefully and use delete if needed.
