TxtA2U is a handy software that helps you create text documents using Unicode encoding from ASCII. It’s super easy to use and runs in a console, so you don’t need any fancy setups. Just some straightforward commands will do the trick!
No installation? No problem! TxtA2U comes in one single file. You can keep it on your computer or even on a thumb drive. This way, you can convert ASCII text on any PC without needing to install anything.
To get started, just open up the Command Prompt and type in the name of the program: TxtA2U.exe InFile OutFile [/y]. Here’s what that means:
If your source file is in a different folder than TxtA2U, just make sure to put in the full path for both your input and output files.
The conversion process is usually pretty quick. Once it’s done, you’ll see how big both your input and output files are (in bytes). If you don’t want that info showing up every time, just add /q at the end of your command.
If there are any issues with files having the same name, TxtA2U will ask what to do next by default. However, if you're okay with overwriting them, using /y gives it permission right away. If you're unsure about how to use it or need more examples, just type /? or /h.
I haven't seen any problems running this on Windows 10! Even though it hasn’t been updated recently, it still does its job quickly without hogging system resources. The commands are simple enough for anyone to pick up—even if you're not a tech whiz! Just note that it can't convert multiple files at once.
