TreeView X is a cool program that helps you load phylogenetic trees, which are like family trees for different species. You might also hear them called evolutionary trees. These trees can show how different species are related to one another, and they hold a lot of useful information stored in specific file formats.
With TreeView X, even if you’re not an expert, you can still have fun exploring these trees. All you need is one of the supported file formats, like nexus tree files or MrBayes consensus files. Once you've got that, you're ready to dive in!
Installing TreeView X is super easy! Anyone can do it without any hassle. When you open the app, you'll notice that the main screen is pretty straightforward. Everything you need is right there in front of you.
The tricky part? Finding the right tree file can be a bit of a challenge since there’s so much information online. But once you find what you're looking for and load it into TreeView X, you'll see the tree come to life!
The program makes it simple to switch between different trees and check out their designs—like slanted or rectangular cladograms—that show how species are connected.
You can also see internal node labels and zoom in or out on your tree images easily! Plus, there are different ways to view your data; you can cascade it or tile it both vertically and horizontally.
Just a heads up: TreeView X isn’t actively supported by its developer anymore. So if something goes wrong while using it, don’t expect fixes or updates anytime soon.
