Transactions

Transactions is a super handy app that helps you manage your banking data. There are tons of accounting and personal finance tools out there, but not all of them can read data straight from your bank files. That's where Transactions comes in! It can read bank and credit card transaction data and lets you export it to more useful formats.

Supported File Formats

This app supports many file types like CSV, Excel, text, MT940/STA, QIF/QMTF, QFX, OFX, and QBO. It even accepts PDF documents! Plus, it has a built-in OCR engine that helps pull out the data accurately from those PDFs.

Working with Your Files

The range of input file types is pretty generous. But here’s a tip: when you’re working with CSV, Excel, or PDF files, make sure your date formats match up for both input and output. Also, remember to mark expenses as negative and revenues as positive!

User-Friendly Layout

The layout of Transactions is really straightforward. Before converting your files, just pay attention to a few options. Transactions reads all the data in your input file and neatly displays it in a table where you can see the transaction date, amount of money involved, payee or payer names, whether it's a withdrawal or deposit—you get the picture.

Conversion Settings Made Easy

You’ll find options to change the date format, encoding mode, and field separator right there in the app. These should match the output format we talked about earlier.

Importing into Other Software

Now let’s talk about what happens after conversion. Transactions can import data into QuickBooks, Quicken, Microsoft Money, NetSuite, Sage—and many other accounting or personal finance software! It’s important to note that files exported from Transactions can also be used with online accounting services.

Diverse Output Formats

You’ve got options for output formats too! You can choose from QBO, IIF (for QuickBooks), QFX, OFX or CSV among others. There are some cool customizations in the Settings area that let you remove memos or clean up check numbers if needed.
