HDR/XDR displays support higher brightness in order to highlight differences between dark and bright areas, but the extra brightness range is normally only used when viewing HDR content.
The TotalXDR app is designed to make your display as bright as possible, regardless of the content on the screen. This makes it easier to use your Mac outdoors or in bright ambient light conditions.
To use TotalXDR, simply go to the menu bar and enable XDR Always On for the built-in display, external monitor, or both. Just keep in mind that watching HDR content while this feature is active may not provide the best viewing experience.
Although TotalXDR isn't meant for continuous use, it can be incredibly useful in situations where your Mac's screen brightness isn't sufficient. The app is lightweight and written in Swift for a seamless native experience.
