Description

The Daily Journal is an open source and free software project, a graphical application that allows you to keep a personal diary in digital format, on your desktop computer or laptop. It is a PIM (Product Information Management) program independent from a specific GNU/Linux operating system or desktop environment.

Key features include the ability to manage daily notes, to-do lists, contacts, addresses, appointments, holidays and alarms to upcoming events, built-in tracking functionality of your daily activity, built-in search functionality, built-in calendar, as well as an easy-to-use and straightforward graphical user interface.

The graphical user interface (GUI) of this application is dead simple, as it provides users with all the information they need in a single window, using tabs. At a first glance, you will see a calendar on the left side of the window, the multiple views (tabs) on the right side of the window and a multi-functional area under the calendar, which changes depending on the current view mode.

You will be able to easily switch between the Journal, Appointments, Contacts, Lists, Anniversaries, Search and Preferences view modes, as well as to add or remove new lists, contacts, journal entries, appointments and anniversaries, group contacts, etc.

The Daily Journal is a Linux program, which means that it has been engineered to compile and work on any GNU/Linux operating system where its runtime dependencies are installed. It has been successfully tested on both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms, and uses the Qt5 GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface.

The application can be downloaded for free as a universal sources archive. No binary packages are provided at this time, allowing users to optimize the software for their Linux distributions. Apparently, The Daily Journal has also been ported to the Microsoft Windows operating systems.
