Tcpreplay
Tcpreplay is a super handy set of tools created by Aaron Turner, designed just for UNIX operating systems. With Tcpreplay, you can take traffic that you've already captured in the libcap format and use it to test different network devices.
What Can Tcpreplay Do?
One cool thing about Tcpreplay is that it helps you figure out whether traffic is coming from a client or a server. Plus, you can change up Layer 2, 3, or 4 headers and send that traffic back onto the network through devices like firewalls, routers, IPSs, and NIDS. It's pretty versatile!
Testing Modes
Tcpreplay also supports both single and dual NIC modes. This means you can test inline devices easily while sniffing at the same time. It's great for making sure everything works smoothly.
Getting Started with Tcpreplay
If you're ready to start using Tcpreplay, the first step is to run tcpprep against a pcap file. This will create a cache file that separates the traffic between client and server. This separation is super helpful when testing inline devices.
Edit and Replay Packets
