What is TCP-Com?

TCP-Com

TCP-Com is a handy software that works as an RS232 to TCP/IP converter. It lets your PC’s RS232 serial ports connect directly to a TCP/IP network. This means you can turn your PC into what’s called a "Serial Device Server." With this setup, you can link any RS232 serial device right to your TCP/IP network. You’ll be able to chat with that device from any other computer on the same network or even from across the Internet!

How Does TCP-Com Work?

So, let’s say you have some data collection gadgets like modems, barcode scanners, or laboratory instruments. You can attach these devices to the serial ports of your Windows PC and access that data from anywhere over any TCP/IP-based network—like Ethernet or the Internet!

Connect Devices Easily

Imagine connecting a barcode reader or an electronic balance to a COM port on your PC. Once you run TCP-Com, you can connect to that device from any other PC in your network using a TCP/IP socket connection. This opens up options for using tools like TCP-Wedge or Telnet to read or write data directly from the serial device.
