Customize Your Breaks

You can easily tweak how this app works by diving into the software's “Options” menu. Want to set how long between breaks? No problem! You can choose how many minutes you want before you take a break and how long that break lasts (in seconds). By default, it’s set for 20 minutes and 20 seconds—perfectly aligning with the 20-20-20 rule recommended by eye doctors!

The 20-20-20 Rule

This rule suggests that every 20 minutes, you should look at something at least 20 feet away for about 20 seconds. This helps relax those eye muscles and keeps them from getting too tired.

What Happens During Your Break?

During your break, TakeABreak will show you what to do: close your eyes and give them a little rest! Plus, it can play sounds to signal when your break starts and ends.
