Tactile is a cool little tool that helps you create your own 2D game maps. Even though games today look amazing with their graphics, lots of us still love the classic 2D games. And since finding new ones can be tough, making your own map is a great idea!

Getting Started with Tactile

Once you download and install Tactile, remember that it won't put an icon on your desktop. So, keep in mind where you saved it! When you open the app, you'll see two choices: create a new map or edit an existing one.

Creating Your Own Map

If you're going for a fresh start with a new map, the first step is to set up the rows and columns, along with how big each tile will be. But don't worry; if you need to change things later—like adding or removing rows—you can do that easily from the Map menu.

Editing Existing Maps

If you're looking to tweak an old map or just edit one you've already started, simply load it up and go through each tile to make changes. It's pretty straightforward!

Fun Features of Tactile

Tactile lets you play around with different tiles, objects, and group layers. You'll find all the usual editing tools here too—like bucket fill, eraser, Ellipse tool, Tile stamp, and Point tool. Plus, it supports popular formats like YAML, JSON, and XML.
