SysUsage is a handy tool for keeping an eye on your system. It helps you monitor things like CPU, memory, I/O, network activity, and disk usage. Plus, it can create cool historical graphs to show how everything's been performing over time!
Once you get SysUsage installed and set up right, it's best to run it using a cron job. This makes sure it checks your system regularly without you having to do anything! You can set it to run every minute since it's super quick. That’s the default setting for the graph report tool called sysusagegraph, and I definitely recommend sticking with that or tweaking it to fit your needs.
If you're wondering how to set this up, here’s what I do with the installation using all the default paths:
*\/1 * * * * \/INSTALL_DIR\/sysusage
*\/5 * * * * \/INSTALL_DIR\/sysusagegraph
If you've changed the default installation path (which is usually at /usr/local/sysusage), don't forget to provide those scripts with the correct path in the command line using the -c option. If you’re unsure what arguments you can use, just type -h or --help for a quick guide!
