Description

Steem

Steem is a cool freeware Atari STE emulator that works on both Linux and Windows. The best part? It's updated regularly and can run almost every ST program ever made without any issues!

Features of Steem

What's awesome about Steem is how easy it is to use. It’s packed with unique features, whether you're into playing classic games, using MIDI apps just like you did back in the day, or even if you have some other plans in mind—Steem has got your back!

How to Use Steem

If you're ready to dive in, here’s how you get started:

  • Usage: steem [options] [disk_image_a [disk_image_b]] [cartridge]

  • Disk image: This is the name of the disk image (like ST/MSA/DIM/STT/ZIP/RAR) that Steem will load. If you want to use two disks, the first one will be drive A: and the second drive B:.

  • Cartridge: Just put in the name of a cartridge image (.STC) that you want to load.

  • State file: This is for loading a previously saved state file (.STS). If you don’t specify one, Steem will load "auto.sts" if that option is checked.

  • TOS image:This refers to the name of TOS image files (.IMG or .ROM).

Tweaking Your Settings

You can adjust various options as well:

  • NOSHM: Disable shared memory usage.

  • NOSOUND: Turn off sound output.

  • SOFT=: Set sound output frequency.

  • PABUFSIZE=: Set buffer size for PortAudio.

  • FONT=: Choose a different font.

  • HELP: Print help message and exit.

  • INI=: Use a specific file for options instead of steem.ini.

You can change most options once you're running Steem through its GUI. So go ahead, launch it and start exploring!

The Latest Updates in Steem

This release has some exciting changes! Here are just a few highlights:

  • Bugs Fixed: etc.. many emulation bugs have been squashed! Stuff like DMA sound issues and others affecting popular games are now fixed!
e.g., Wrath of the Demon and Zoolook are running smoother than ever!
Thanks to Jorge for helping out with these fixes!
