Getting started with Speed Reading III is a breeze. You don’t need to be a tech whiz or spend ages setting things up. It only takes about 2 MB of space on your computer, so it won’t hog your hard drive. Plus, it doesn't use a ton of system resources!

Once you open the app, you're just seconds away from speeding through your reading material. All you have to do is pick a document or choose from the presets they offer. It’s that simple!

How It Works

The main goal of this app isn't just to help you read faster; it's also about helping you understand what you're reading as you speed along. When you first launch the app, you'll see a welcome screen where you can select your text source—either from built-in options or upload a TXT file from your computer.

Select Your Speed

You get to choose from four different speed levels! Each level has an adjustment slider that lets you decide how many words per minute feels comfortable for you. The text will pop up one line at a time, and it’ll scroll based on the speed setting you've picked.

A Few Limitations

But here’s the catch: you're limited by the height of the main window when reading. You can't drag it bigger to see more text at once. Also, if your TXT file has paragraphs in it, be prepared for some repetition—you'll end up reading the same sentences over and over!

The Bottom Line

All in all, Speed Reading III does its job but leaves some room for improvement. The idea is solid, but after using it, it's tough to tell if your skills actually got better or if you've just memorized things due to seeing them repeatedly.
