Sort it!

Sort it! is a super handy tool designed just for the Yahoo! Widget Engine. It helps you stay organized by giving you quick shortcuts to your favorite folders. With this nifty gadget, you can easily open up to five different directories right from your desktop. Whether these folders are on your local drive, a removable device, a network location, or even on CDs or DVDs, it’s all covered!

Easy Setup for Your Folders

Setting up Sort it! is a breeze! In the Preferences menu of the gadget, you can add five different descriptions to help you tell them apart. You can either type or paste in their full paths in special boxes. Want to browse instead? Just click the little ... buttons next to each box and use the built-in tree view to find and select your folders.

Customizing Your Experience

If you're feeling creative, switch over to the Colors tab. Here, you can change the text color of your folder descriptions and even swap out the default yellow cabinet color for gray. There’s also a third tab called Window which works with all tools made for the Yahoo! Widget Engine. From here, you can set your widget window to always stay on top (or below), make it ignore mouse events so it doesn't get dragged around, and adjust how transparent it looks.

Opening Your Folders Made Simple

Once you've got everything set up just how you like it, opening those folders is easy! Just click on the cabinets in Sort it!, and voila – they pop open in Windows Explorer! But keep this in mind: if you've got any entries without assigned directories, they won't disappear from the main window. They'll still show up with their default names but clicking won’t do anything.

The Yahoo! Widget Engine project hasn’t been updated in quite some time now, so its platform and widgets are pretty much stuck as they are. But don’t worry; you can still download and install both Sort it! and the application itself.
