Softlogic is the go-to software for Bluecherry's video surveillance needs. They use a special MPEG-4 codec card, which comes in 4, 8, and 16 channel models. Now, here’s the kicker: the original driver for this card was pretty underwhelming. Even though it was open source, it felt more like a patched-up version of the Windows driver. It had all the features but didn't really fit well with Linux users.

Luckily, Ben Collins stepped in and completely revamped the driver! He made sure it works smoothly with Linux by using Video4Linux2 and Alsa driver APIs. Thanks to his hard work, it's now about 90% functional and way more efficient than that old OEM driver.
