Snoopy, a powerful tool for Linux sysadmins, provides comprehensive command execution logging seamlessly. It acts as a transparent library, wrapping around execve() calls made by users and applications. With logging facilitated through syslogd and stored securely in authpriv, this tool ensures offsite activity tracking with ease.
Snoopy can be easily installed by running the following commands:
make
make install
For monitoring specific applications, set the LD_PRELOAD environment variable to /lib/snoopy.so before executing the desired application. To remove Snoopy, edit /etc/ld.so.preload and delete the reference to snoopy.so and /lib/snoopy.so.
