Implementing email protocols and standards within a development context and environment can be quite tricky, especially considering the inherent characteristics of the different protocols, the type of data that is to be transferred, and more. Specialized libraries are required in order to implement the functionality of email protocols, and one such collection of components is SMTP/POP3/IMAP Email Component Library for C/C++.
This component library was created specifically in order to provide users with control across the SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol), POP3 (Post Office 3), and IMAP 4 (Internet Message Access Protocol) protocols, in order to implement their functionality in a programming environment.
Using this library, users will be able to access an interface that permits them to send and receive email content, including several MIME base64 and quoted-printable encoded attachments, all from a C, C++, Visual, or .NET application, without the need for Winsock or TCP/IP prerequisites. The end product of the implementation process will be applications that can send, receive, and parse emails.
The library comes equipped with a selection of pre-defined example programs, which can be used to demonstrate the sending and receival of email data through the library. Users will be able to implement it with any software that relies on the Windows API.
