Dynamic Manipulation

You can dynamically manipulate a plane that slices through a double cone and see the resulting conic section. What’s cool is that conic sections are basically where a plane intersects with a right circular double cone.

Adjusting the Plane

To change the position of the plane, simply drag the tilt slider! You’ll be able to view the double cone and examine how the intersection looks. The tilt angle shows how steeply your plane cuts through.

Vertical Translation

You can also adjust how high or low the plane cuts across the double cone. It’s neat because you can switch between viewing just the frame of the double cone or its shaded surface. Plus, you’ll see labels showing what type of conic section is displayed in both 3D View and Standard View.

Size Adjustments

The software even lets you change the size of your double cone in 3D View! This makes it easier to visualize things better.
