SectionMaker is a neat geotechnical tool that helps you create 2D cross-sections. It's based on typical sections from CPeT-IT, which is another program in the same field.
Now, even though SectionMaker is usually seen as an add-on for CPeT-IT, you can actually download and try it out as a standalone app. But here's the catch: it doesn't have creation features on its own. You’ll need to import a project from CPeT-IT to get started.
One cool thing about SectionMaker is its CAD-like interface. It makes drawing lines, polylines, axes, areas, and even inserting images super easy! Once you're done with your design, you can export your project in various formats like JPG, GIF, BMP, WMF, or DXF (R14 and R2000).
Geotechnical work happens all around the globe. A big challenge here is dealing with different unit systems. No worries though! SectionMaker lets you choose between the Metric system or Imperial units—just like its main app CPeT-IT does.
In short, while SectionMaker isn't a full-blown utility by itself, it serves more as an extension of CPeT-IT. This main program specializes in running cone penetration tests. The standalone version is handy for quick tasks but doesn’t really shine unless you have projects to import.
