Schedule Shutdown is a simple-to-use Windows application designed to schedule the computer to perform a power management option (log out, shutdown, restart) at a time defined by the user. It comes packed with an intuitive set of options that can be easily figured out by all types of users, even those with little or no experience in such apps. The installation procedure is rapid and does not require special attention. The program has a single window with a clean layout, where you can schedule multiple tasks. After selecting the type of operation to perform, you can either establish a time until executing it (in minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years), or point out a specific time and date. When it comes to program settings, you can ask Schedule Shutdown to display a notification before an operation is executed (default is 30 seconds), disable the sound alert, and make the program automatically run at Windows startup until further notice. All tasks can be removed from the list with a click. Existing tasks cannot be cleared or edited. Users also get the chance to cancel an operation by clicking the notification balloon. The utility minimizes to the system tray area, where it does not interrupt normal user activity. CPU and RAM usage were low during our evaluation. The app did not hang, crash, or pop up error messages (tests were made on Windows 8.1). Although not feature-rich, Schedule Shutdown offers a simple solution for scheduling the computer to shut down, restart, or log off, and it can be handled by all types of users.
