Description

s-tui

s-tui, short for Stress-Terminal UI, is a cool tool that lets you stress test your computer's hardware. It's especially handy when you're building a custom PC and want to push your CPU or GPU to the max.

Why Stress Test Your Computer?

Stress testing is super useful because it helps you figure out how much pressure your computer can handle. If you're overclocking, you'll definitely want to give it a shot. While Linux may not have as many options compared to Windows or macOS, there are still some great stress testing apps available.

Features of s-tui

s-tui is Terminal-based but packs a punch! It not only lets you stress test your CPU but also acts as a neat system monitor. You can keep an eye on your CPU temperature, frequency, power usage, and overall load—all from the terminal.

Monitoring Made Easy

This app does a fantastic job of showing you how your CPU is performing. By running a stress test with s-tui, you can spot any performance drops, like those pesky thermal throttling issues.

Flexible Stress Testing Options

With s-tui, you've got choices! You can pick from different stress testing options like stress, stress-ng, or FIRESTARTER. Plus, if you need to save the results for later, it has an option to export them in .csv format.

Installing s-tui on Linux

You’ve got several ways to install s-tui. You can build it from source or just use a simple command in the terminal. It works on popular Linux distros like Debian, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Manjaro, OpenSUSE, and even Fedora! For more details on installation methods, check this out!

User-Friendly Interface

You might think CLI tools are complicated—but s-tui proves otherwise! After installing it, just open your Terminal and type "s-tui" to get started. Navigating between Monitor and Stress modes is easy too; use either your mouse or keyboard!

A Helpful Tool for Monitoring

This app provides tons of graphs and summaries along with various stress options. There's even built-in help if you get stuck. And if that's not enough info for you, check out their GitHub repository!

Conclusion: Is s-tui Right for You?

If you're after something straightforward for stressing out your CPU and keeping tabs on system resources now and then—s-tui is definitely worth considering! Just remember that while it's handy for monitoring basics, it's not as detailed as tools like htop or BashTOP.
