Registry Hacks for Windows Vista Screensavers

Registry Hacks for Windows Vista Screensavers is a cool way to jazz up your screensaver experience! It's a bummer that Microsoft Windows Vista comes with screensavers that you can't tweak. But good news! Stephen Coy, the designer behind these screensavers, hinted that some customization options could pop up after Vista launches—maybe through a powertoy or service pack. If you're impatient like me and want to make changes now, keep reading!

Where to Find the Registry Keys

The registry keys for these screensavers are tucked away under: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Screensavers. This is where all the magic happens!

Applying Registry Hacks

To get started with these hacks, just hit that DOWNLOAD button. Right-click on the links you like and select "Save as..." to save those registry files to your computer. After that, just double-click on them to apply the changes!

The Ribbons Screensaver Options

The Ribbons screensaver has two fun settings:

  • NumRibbons: This decides how many ribbons can dance across your screen at once. You can set it anywhere from 1 to 256.

  • RibbonWidth: This controls how wide those ribbons are.

Ribbons Screensaver Hack #1: Thinner ribbons with more of them!
Ribbons Screensaver Hack #2: Thicker ribbons but still lots of them.
Ribbons Screensaver Hack #3: Super thick ribbons but only a few.

Mystify Screensaver Settings

This one's simple—there's just one option:

  • NumLines: Set how many lines show up on screen, from 1 onward.

Mystify Screensaver Hack #1: More lines than ever!
Mystify Screensaver Hack #2: Fewer lines for a chill vibe.

Bubbles Screensaver Features

Bubbles come with four fun settings:

  • MaterialGlass: Choose between glass-like bubbles (1) or metallic ones (0).

  • Radius: Bigger radius means fewer bubbles!

  • ShowShadows: Enable shadows (1) or not (0).

  • ShowBubbles: If you want bubbles on your desktop (1) or against a black background (0).

Please note: “Bubbles Hack #1” has more smaller non-transparent bubbles against a black background, but it might cause some issues if left running too long at work. “Bubbles Hack #2” shows fewer big non-transparent bubbles on your desktop instead.

If You Want to Reset Everything...

No problem! Just delete the registry values related to each
