What is rEFIt FOR LINUX?

rEFIt FOR LINUX

rEFIt is an open source, freely distributed and cross-platform boot maintenance toolkit and bootloader (boot menu) that supports UEFI- and EFI-based machines, including Intel Macs and Linux laptops.

The software has been successfully used to easily and quickly boot multiple operating systems from a single machine, including triple-boot setups that used the Boot Camp software from Apple.

With this small system utility, anyone will be able to enter, view and browser an (U)EFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) pre-boot environment. It has been designed from the offset to act as a drop-in replacement for your computer's boot manager.

Features:

  • Supports all GNU/Linux distributions, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X

  • Compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms

  • Distributed as universal sources archive and pre-built binary package

  • Available as ISO and Mac disk images

Specifications:

  • Publisher: Christoph Pfisterer

  • Price: FREE

  • File Format: .tar.gz

  • Compatibility: UEFI- and EFI-based machines

Since the end of March 2013, the rEFIt project is no longer under active development. It has been archived for historical reference purposes only, in case someone wants to fork it and create a brand-new UEFI bootloader. We strongly recommend trying the rEFInd software instead, which can be downloaded for free on Softpedia.
