What is Radar Tools FOR LINUX?

Radar Tools

Radar Tools, or RAT for short, is a cool set of tools designed to help you handle SAR (synthetic aperture radar) remote sensing data. It’s all bundled together in a user-friendly graphical interface that makes it pretty easy to use.

Why We Created Radar Tools

So, here’s the deal: we noticed that popular remote sensing software like Erdas Image and ENVI only offer basic SAR features. If you wanted advanced algorithms, you had to figure them out yourself. That just didn’t seem fair! So, we thought, why not create something better?

The Goal of RAT

Our goal with RAT is to bring modern SAR algorithms to more people. We want to make it easier for everyone—especially when it comes to handling and processing complex SAR data. It’s all about making things simpler!

A Community Effort

This isn’t just a one-time project either! RAT is meant to be an ongoing community effort. We don’t plan on stopping at just one version with limited features. Instead, we're looking to add more and more tools over time, making them freely available for everyone in the scientific community.

Your Input Matters!

We’re really excited about the potential for outside contributions too! That’s why we designed the programming interface of RAT to be super simple. Adding your own functions is a breeze! Plus, we’ll provide function templates in the distribution along with a step-by-step guide on how to program your own RAT module. Keep an eye out for that in our documentation soon!
