RackTables

RackTables is a really cool tool for managing your datacenter assets. If you're looking to keep everything organized, you've come to the right place!

Getting Started with RackTables

So, how do you kick things off? First, you need to unpack the tarball and make it web-accessible. You might want to set it up at yourcompany.com/racktables or maybe something like racktables.mysite.org. It’s super simple!

Create a MySQL Database

The next step is to create a MySQL database. Don’t forget to grant some user permissions for it so that everything runs smoothly.

Setting Up Your Configuration Files

You’ll then want to go into the 'inc' directory. Here, copy secret-sample.php and rename it to secret.php. Make sure you modify this file according to your needs.

If necessary, tweak the inc/config.php file as well. This is where you can set up other important details.

Edit Your Authentication Settings

You’ll also need to edit init-auth.sql. This is where you can change the admin password, so be sure it's something secure!

$enterprise Setup in Config File

Dive back into the inc/config.php, and check out the $enterprise setting. Modify this if needed.

Initializing Your Database

Your last major step is initializing the database! Here’s how:

mysql> use database_name;

  mysql> source init-structure.sql

  mysql> source init-auth.sql

  mysql> source init-dictbase.sql

  mysql> source init-dictvendors.sql

  

Cleansing Unnecessary Files

Once that's done, don’t forget to remove init-auth.sql. You won’t need that anymore!
