Quick Hash is a handy little software tool that helps you calculate the hash of text strings and files. It supports various hash types like MD5, SHA1, SHA256, SHA512, and even xxHash.
The best part? You don’t need to install anything! Just drop the executable file anywhere on your hard drive and click it to run. You can also save Quick Hash to a USB flash drive, so you can use it on any PC without worrying about installers.
One of the great features is that Quick Hash doesn’t mess with your Windows registry or leave extra files behind. When you’re done using it, everything stays neat and tidy!
The interface is straightforward with a window divided into sections for hashing text, files, and even entire folders. To start, just pick the checksum algorithm you want. After that, you can type or paste in text, select a file using the file browser (or drag and drop), or choose a whole folder of files.
You generate the hash by clicking a button! It’s super easy to copy it to your clipboard too. Plus, if you want, Quick Hash can save directories as log files in formats like CSV or HTML. You can ignore subdirectories, flag duplicates, and filter files based on types when working with entire folders.
We’ve tested Quick Hash extensively and didn’t run into any stability issues at all. The app stayed responsive without freezing or crashing. It uses minimal system resources while calculating hashes quickly—making it user-friendly for everyone! Although the interface could be tweaked a bit (for instance, resizing the main window doesn’t adjust UI elements), overall it's pretty easy to work with.
