What is QTail FOR LINUX?

QTail

QTail is a cool, free, and open-source software that gives you an easy-to-use graphical interface for the powerful tail command-line tool. Whether you're a techie or just starting out, you'll find this software super simple!

Easy to Use Interface

The interface of QTail is pretty basic, which makes it friendly for everyone. You can easily open a file to keep an eye on it. If you want to tweak how many lines show up on your screen, just head over to the Settings dialog. It’s straightforward and user-friendly!

Installation Steps

Now, here’s where it gets a bit technical. Right now, you’ll find QTail as a source archive in zip format. So, you'll need to do some setup before you can start using it.

First off, extract the archive wherever you'd like. Then open up your terminal emulator in that directory. You’ll need to run the “qmake” command to get everything set up and then use the “make” command to compile it.

If you’re ready to roll, run the application with the ./QTail command or install it system-wide by typing “sudo make install.” It's that simple!

Supported Platforms

This awesome program is written in C++ and uses the Qt5 GUI toolkit for its graphics. What’s great is that it's cross-platform! You can use QTail on both GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows systems—whether your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit.

If you're using GNU/Linux, just remember: download it as a source archive (check those installation instructions above). Ready to give it a try? You can download QTail here!
