What is prescanic FOR LINUX?

Prescanic

Prescanic is all about grabbing as much info as it can from a single host. It uses cool methods like TCP fingerprinting, banner grabbing, anonymous FTP detection, and parsing telnet banners. It's got some neat tricks up its sleeve!

How to Use Prescanic

If you want to run a scan, here’s how to do it:

  • # prescanic < [-h host][-f host_file][-i] > [options]

  • -h < host >: Scan a single host.

  • -f < host_file >: Accept hosts from "host_file".

  • -i: Accept hosts from STDIN.

Options You Can Use

Here are some options you might find handy:

  • -s: Stealth mode (this means syn scan and OS detection only).

  • -t < timeout >: How many seconds to wait if the host doesn’t send data.

  • -d < device >: The network device you'll use for sniffing and sending data.

  • -p < processes >: How many processes to run at once (set 0 if you don’t want any).

  • -v: Verbose mode gives you lots of debug info.

  • -w: Write the scan results to STDOUT while also saving them.

  • -l: Skip reverse lookup for IP addresses.

A Little Background on Prescanic

This project has been around for almost 10 years! I’ve decided it’s time for a little cleanup and a fresh release. I’m hoping to get some help with it since there’s so much room for improvement and the code is pretty clean. I'm excited to see where this goes!
