Post Code Lookup

Post Code Lookup is a handy application that lets you search for postcodes, locations, and states or regions in your country. With just a click of a mouse, you can quickly find the place name or postcode you're interested in.

What Areas Does It Cover?

This program comes loaded with postcode data for:

• Australia (16,308 postcodes/locations)


• New Zealand (2,219 postcodes/locations)


• United Kingdom (27,195 postcodes/locations)

How to Search

You can search using one field, like just the location. Or you can go all out and search multiple fields at once—like Location and State! It’s super flexible.

Using Wildcards to Expand Your Search

You can use an asterisk (*) to broaden your search options. Here’s how:

• If you type AU*, it’ll pull up all places starting with 'AU', like Aubury.


• If you just enter AU, it will show all places with 'AU' anywhere in their name, such as Beauty Point.


• If you type *Au, you’ll get places ending in 'AU', like Collaroy Plateau.

The cool part? All your search criteria are case insensitive. So whether it's 'au', 'AU', or 'Au', it’ll work the same!

Your Data Files

The postcode data files are simple comma-separated text files arranged in this order: postcode, location, state/region. Here's an example:

2000,NSW,SYDNEY

3996,VIC,POUND CREEK

4000,QLD,BRISBANE

You can add extra fields after these details if needed. But remember—they'll be ignored by this program! Keeping the order correct is key here: postcode first, then location and state/region.

Your Search Results

The records will appear sorted by postcode on the Postcode Search Results screen. This program works great with numeric or alphanumeric postcodes of any length and handles regions/states and locations up to 255 characters long!
