Description

Plumb

Plumb is a handy tool for managing your desktop when you're juggling a lot of projects. You know how it can get when you're working on multiple tasks? Each one often needs its own window, and soon enough, your desktop looks like a chaotic mess—especially if you're using just one monitor. Luckily, that's where Plumb comes in to help organize everything.

Easy Setup with Plumb

When you install Plumb, there's a neat little option at the end that lets the app pop up automatically once it's done setting up. It usually hangs out in the tray area but opens up a configuration window on your desktop. This is great because you can see what options are available and get familiar with how it works right away.

Modes Made Simple

The cool thing about Plumb is that it has several modes to choose from. The good news? You don't have to do much to set them up! However, it's worth noting that there aren't any hotkey commands for quickly sending windows to specific spots or viewing a grid layout of available slots on your screen. So, the arrangement mostly happens automatically.

Automatic Window Arrangement

With the autotiling feature turned on, Plumb takes charge of organizing your active windows. If some windows aren't maximized, it creates different slots on your desktop to keep things tidy. Windows will get positioned either horizontally or vertically depending on what works best at that moment. But be careful! This can sometimes be frustrating since as soon as you drop a window anywhere, it gets rearranged right away.

Customize Your Setup

You do have some control though! You can set how many slots you want available and even tell Plumb to remember where certain windows should go. Plus, there's an option to include or exclude specific items from automatic positioning which makes life a bit easier.

Your Thoughts Matter!

In conclusion, while Plumb has some great ideas for helping you manage your workspace better, it does lack some important controls over where everything goes. Still, if you're looking for something that's designed to make arranging windows less of a hassle, give Plumb a try!
