Description

Permissions Reporter

Permissions Reporter is a handy tool for system administrators. Managing user permissions for files and folders can be a real chore, right? You could check each folder's Properties window one by one, but that gets old fast. Instead, with Permissions Reporter, you have a clear interface to help you manage those permissions in Windows.

Creating a New Project

Getting started is super easy! Just create a new project and add the folders you want to check out. Once you run the project, the app analyzes each folder and shows everything in a tree view. This layout makes it much easier to read and understand the data.

User Groups and Permissions

So what does Permissions Reporter do? It pulls up all the info about permission levels for different user groups like administrators, authenticated users, system operations, and others. Besides these four main categories for regular folders, Windows folders also have extra groups that may ask for access—like resource creators/owners or TrustedInstaller.

Folder and File Reports

The cool part? Permissions Reporter doesn’t just show you permissions for your current folder; it also digs into subfolders. Usually, those inherit their access rights from the parent folder.

If you're only interested in seeing the permissions of scanned folders, check out the “Folder Report.” But if you want details on individual files, then go for the “File Report.” This report reveals who owns the file and its timestamp along with any inheritance details. Plus, there are reports like “Owner Report” and “Share Report” to cover shared resources!

Automate Your Tasks

No one likes doing repetitive tasks! Thankfully, Permissions Reporter has an integrated scheduler feature. You can set it up to run specific projects automatically and export data easily. Then you can compare generated reports with another one or even your current system status using its built-in wizard. This helps keep an eye on changes over time and spot any potential security issues.

A Better Way to Manage Permissions

Overall, Permissions Reporter offers a much easier way to handle permissions across multiple files and folders than doing it manually. With this tool at your side, you'll generate detailed reports about user permissions quickly while keeping tabs on any changes that might pop up due to security problems.
