Peditor is a handy tool for working with Portable Executable (PE) files. Now, I know that dealing with PE files can be tricky since it needs some know-how and special tools that not everyone has access to. But Peditor makes this task easier, even for those who aren’t pros in the field.
The cool thing about Peditor is its simple GUI. All the features are lined up on the right side, while most of the main window shows you important file info and header data. Once you load an executable into Peditor, you’re ready to dive in!
After loading your PE executable, you can easily use the edit boxes to set the entry point and image base. Plus, you can check out important file header details like machine type, number of sections, time date stamp, number of symbols, and even pointers to the symbol table.
Peditor lets you manage optional header information too! You can adjust things like base code and data, headers and image size, file alignment values, section alignment values, and subsystem data. The 'Rebuild' command opens up a window where you can set options for your operations and see results in real-time!
With Peditor's Directory Table Viewer module, you can check out relative virtual addresses (RVA) along with their sizes for memory locations. This info is exportable and importable for various tables like resource, exception, security, debug—there’s a lot here!
Peditor also supports other useful actions like 'section split', 'break'n'enter', and more. Overall, this software is a lot more user-friendly than many others if you've worked with these types of files before. Experience helps but isn’t always necessary.
