Description

Pcb FOR LINUX

Pcb is a super handy tool for the X Window System that helps you design printed circuit boards (PCBs). It's really cool because all the coordinate units are set to 1/1000 inch, which makes precision easier. When you create a layout, you get to work with lines, arcs, polygons, elements like lines and pins, vias, and even text info. Plus, everything is organized into several layers.

Unique Identification for Layers

Each part of your layout has its own unique name and color—if your display supports it. If you're into SMD circuits, don't worry; Pcb supports those too! You can work with up to eight layers plus a silkscreen layer. What’s neat is that you can control the visibility of pins, SMD pads, and vias.

File Management Made Easy

All files created in Pcb are in 7-bit ASCII format. This means they can be preprocessed using any Unix command that writes results to stdout (and yes, you'll need GNU m4 for this). Need to zoom in or out? No problem! You also get unlimited undo and redo options—perfect for when things don’t go as planned.

Simplicity at Its Best

Pcb aims to be a simple tool without all those memory-hogging features like autorouting or autoplacement. It keeps things straightforward so you can focus on designing your layout without unnecessary distractions. All your layout settings are saved right alongside your data.
