NGR Converter is your go-to tool for turning National Grid References into latitude and longitude. It's super handy for anyone needing to convert between British National Grid References, latitude, and longitude, and even IARU Locators!
With the NGR Converter widget, you can easily get the info you need without any hassle. The top box is where you enter and see your National Grid References. The middle two boxes are set up for inputting and displaying latitudes and longitudes.
The bottom box is meant for IARU Locators, letting you view convergences and scales too. It's all designed to be user-friendly!
You can input National Grid References in either numeric or alphanumeric formats. If you're going with the numeric format, just use a comma-separated pair of eastings and northings measured in meters from the (false) origin.
If you prefer alphanumeric, feel free to enter a 2, 4, 6, 8, or even a 10-figure National Grid Reference that starts with a two-letter prefix. Both formats work well for entries; just remember there are options to specify which format displays.
The NGR Converter also lets you compute convergences and scales easily! This system uses the Airy 1830 ellipsoid along with a Terrestrial Reference Frame known as OSGB36 (Ordnance Survey Great Britain 1936).
