What is netctl FOR LINUX?

netctl FOR LINUX

netctl is an open source command-line software written by various developers from the Arch Linux project, distributed for free and designed from the ground up to act as a profile-based systemd network management solution.

Main Features:

  • Configure and manage network connections through profiles

  • Supports wireless and wired setups

  • Roaming for mobile users

  • Easy management of network profiles

Functionality:

netctl is considered a native Arch Linux project designed to replace the obsolete netcfg command-line utility. It enables users to list available profiles, save active profiles, load saved profiles, stop all active profiles, start, stop or restart a specific profile, switch to a desired profile, display runtime status, and enable, disable or reenable the systemd unit for a profile.

Installation:

netctl is typically pre-installed in Arch Linux, but it can also be manually installed by downloading the latest source package, compiling it, and running the necessary commands to make it available system-wide.
