What is Mythtv?

MythTV is a cool tool that started out as a Vista Sidebar gadget. Its main job is to show you the status of your MythTV server right on your screen. You can quickly check out things like encoder status, guide data, how much disk space you have left, and even what recordings are coming up next!

Key Features of MythTV

This handy sidebar gadget talks directly to your MythTV server and pulls in all sorts of useful info. Here’s what you can see at a glance:

• Encoder Status: Is it busy or idle? You’ll know right away!


• Listings Status: Check out how many days of data you have and when the last mythfilldatabase ran. If the number of days drops below a certain point, it will turn red so you won't miss anything important.


• Disk Space: Find out how much space is used and how much is free.


• Upcoming Recordings: Get a peek at your next three recordings. It’s limited to just three because the sidebar doesn't have a lot of space.

Navigating with MythWeb

The MythTV Sidebar Gadget also makes it easy to connect with MythWeb. Just click on different parts of the gadget to open up MythWeb in your browser:

• The MythTV Logo: Takes you straight to the MythWeb home page.


• "Guide" Button: Click here for quick access to the program guide.


• "Upcoming" Link: This one shows you what's coming up next in your recordings.
