My Disk Cleaner is a handy macOS app that helps you clean up your hard disk. It scans your entire drive, shows you how big each file and folder is, finds duplicates, and gets rid of files you don’t need anymore. Pretty cool, right?
When you open My Disk Cleaner for the first time, you'll see a simple window split into different sections. These let you check out your hard disk, partitions, network locations, and home folder. Just click on any of these to start scanning and see what's inside.
The main feature of My Disk Cleaner is its ability to scan folders quickly. It shows which files and folders are taking up the most space. The scanning happens pretty fast, and you can check the results in three different ways.
In the first view, there’s a pie chart that gives you a visual breakdown of how space is used on your disk—though honestly, the meaning behind the colors isn’t very clear. The second view lists all your files and folders neatly. Lastly, in the third view, you can browse through all items and see their paths.
This app also lets you send unnecessary files to the trash for easy cleanup later on. Plus, it can find duplicate files so you can delete them too! Just keep in mind that these ‘Pro’ features require an extra purchase within the app.
All things considered, My Disk Cleaner still has some room for improvement before it feels really user-friendly. The interface could use some polish because it's a bit clunky right now. Plus, some features seem like they could be better designed.
