Description

MDR Software

MDR is a cool tool designed to help scientists find and understand how genes interact with each other. It focuses on something called gene-gene interactions or epistasis. So, when you use MDR, you’re using a special algorithm that helps spot tricky connections between different attributes.

What is Multifactor Dimensionality Reduction?

Multifactor Dimensionality Reduction (MDR) is like a smart buddy when it comes to spotting patterns in genetic data. Unlike logistic regression, which has its own rules, MDR offers a nonparametric and genetic model-free way to detect nonlinear interactions among various genetic and environmental factors. This means it can handle complex relationships without making assumptions.

How Does MDR Work?

The magic of the MDR method lies in its ability to combine several processes. It does attribute selection, construction, classification, cross-validation, and even visualization! This all comes together to create a powerful way to analyze data. With these features, you can effectively detect and interpret those nonlinear interactions that are so important in genetics.

Requirements for Using MDR

Requirements:

  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later

  • Java HotSpot Client VM (build 1.4.2_06-b03, mixed mode)

What's New in This Release?

This version of MDR has some important fixes:

  • A bug was fixed that messed up saved analysis outputs. If you looked at the results for your models, the testing confusion matrix was actually showing the training one instead!

  • The averages were right with 'AvgTrain', so overall accuracies were still good.

  • Another fix addressed an issue where loading an analysis and then trying to save it would cause an error.

  • If you're loading an old analysis now, you'll have to disable saving until you run a new one.

  • If you need a copy of an existing analysis, just do it outside of MDR!
