Description
Mart Dictionary
Mart Dictionary is a handy translation tool that supports multiple languages. It even has access to the Oxford, Merriam-Webster, and Britannica Concise dictionaries for offline use. Plus, it features an autodetect option and text-to-speech function, making it super user-friendly!
Key Features of Mart Dictionary
Before we go any further, there's something important you should know. This software hasn't seen updates in a while, so it won't work on Windows versions newer than Vista. It does need .NET Framework 2 and Adobe Flash Player ActiveX, but don’t worry—they come included in the package and are set up automatically when you install.
Language Options Available
With Mart Dictionary, you get English-to-English, Mongolian-to-English, and English-to-Mongolian dictionaries right off the bat. You can also download more from the developer's site! Options include Arabic, German, Chinese, Dutch, French, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Turkish or Spanish (both to and from English). These additional languages integrate smoothly into Mart Dictionary during setup.
User-Friendly Interface
The utility launches in your system tray for quick access to its settings. The main panel includes four key areas: dictionary lookup, translation service, text encoding conversion options, and general settings. Oh! And you can keep this window on top of others for easy use.
How to Use It
Using it is simple! Just select your source and output language—type in your text—and hit a button to translate instantly. There’s also a button for swapping languages if needed. One downside? It doesn’t allow you to load text files directly.
Diving into Definitions
The dictionary comes with a basic search feature that shows word definitions in your chosen languages. You can turn on the speech function to hear how words are pronounced too! Additionally, it lets you convert ArialMon to Arial/Cyrillic or Unicode text easily.
Autodetect Feature
A cool feature is the autodetect option which allows Mart Dictionary to translate text selected in any other desktop app automatically.
Conclusion: Is It Worth It?
In summary, Mart Dictionary could be a reliable desktop buddy for translating texts and accessing multilingual dictionaries offline. Just keep in mind that it's not compatible with newer Windows systems!
Mart Dictionary can also be found in these download collections: English Dictionary, Virtual Dictionary, Vocabulary Managers.
