What is Map Locator?

Map Locator is a cool navigation tool that helps you find your way around using GPS and Bing Maps. It shows your current location, helps you discover the fastest route between any two points on the map, and even remembers places you tell it to!

Designed for Your Devices

This app is made for tablets and mobile devices, but you can also install it on computers running Windows 8, 8.1, and 10 from the Store. Just keep in mind that it needs to connect to the Internet and access your location to work right.

Getting Started with Map Locator

When you first open the app, it will ask if it can know where you are. Once you give it permission, a road map pops up with a little pin showing your spot.

Explore Your Map

You can zoom in or out of the map by pinching or stretching your fingers on the screen. You can also explore by tapping and dragging! Want to see traffic? No problem! You can switch between road view, aerial view, or even a bird's eye view.

Finding Your Way Back

If you're worried about forgetting where you parked your car, just tell Map Locator to remember your current position. Later on, if you need help getting back there, just ask it to show you the way!

Directions Made Easy

The app not only shows the route but also gives step-by-step instructions like "turn left" or "go straight." This makes navigating super easy!

Fastest Route Finder

You can also find the quickest route between two places by filling in the "From" and "To" fields. To make sure you're headed in the right direction, it's best to add the city next to any street names.

Save Your Routes Offline

If you'd like to save a map route for later use without an internet connection, take a screenshot! Then share that image through one of your favorite Modern UI programs that lets you save files.

A Note on Performance

I should mention that during testing, Map Locator sometimes struggled to find our exact location—even when we were on Wi-Fi instead of mobile data. It doesn't quite measure up against top-tier map apps designed for mobile devices. But hey, it's free! So why not give it a try? You might find it useful!
