Logsnap

Logsnap is a super simple app for Mac OS X that works right with your system. It uses your iSight camera to take photos when you set it up. The main idea is to let you know who’s tried to use your Mac while you were away.

How Logsnap Works

The app hangs out in your status bar, making it easy to keep an eye on things. You can tweak its settings from a tiny panel. You get to pick where you want the photos saved and turn the monitoring feature on or off whenever you want.

When Does Logsnap Snap Photos?

You decide when the app should take pictures if it sees a face near your computer. You can choose for it to snap shots:

• Always


• If the screen is locked


• If someone goes to the Login Panel


• If there's a Login Panel Shake (which means someone typed in the wrong password)

Security Concerns with Logsnap

Now, here’s something important: if someone else gets into your computer and knows about Logsnap, they can easily turn it off since there’s no password protection on the app itself. Plus, finding where those pictures are saved isn’t hard either, so any captured images could be deleted pretty quickly.

Your best bet? Always lock your screen or activate your screensaver before stepping away from your Mac!

Tips for Staying Secure

You can check System Preferences to make sure that a password is needed right after the screen locks. Also, using a strong password and keeping it private will help keep things secure.
