Lights and Shapes COLREG is a super handy app for OS X that helps you get ready for the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) exam. It's all about learning and testing your skills, making studying a breeze!
The Royal Yachting Association is the main governing body for lots of water sports. They cover everything from sailing and windsurfing to motor cruising, power boating, and personal watercraft. So, if you're into any of these activities, this app could be your best friend!
Lights and Shapes COLREG focuses on Part C of the International Regulation for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREG). This is a set of rules published by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO). The goal? To keep ships safe by preventing collisions while they're out on the water.
The app has a simple interface that makes it easy to learn about Part C of those important collision regulations. Each rule comes with clear explanations and helpful graphics. You'll find over 120 images showing different angles (like starboard, bow, port, and stern) to help you recognize various ships by their lights.
If you check out the Signals tab in the app, you'll see light signals and shapes. Plus, you can listen to different sound signals defined in Part D of those same regulations! How cool is that?
The Test tab lets you challenge yourself with a full test that has 30 questions or go for a normal test with 15 questions. If you're short on time, there's even a quick test with just five questions! You can track how many answers you got right or wrong as you go along.
If you're gearing up for the RYA exam and want to see how well you've prepared, this educational app is definitely worth considering! You can download it here!
