LibSoup is a totally free and super easy-to-use HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) server and client library. It’s mainly designed for applications that run on the GNOME graphical desktop environment, which is perfect for Linux users.
This cool project uses the powerful GLib library as its main loop and hooks up with GObjects to work well with most GNOME applications. One of the neat things about LibSoup is that it supports proxies, along with authentication and SSL tunneling. This means you can securely manage your web requests!
LibSoup automatically caches connections, which helps speed things up. It also has both asynchronous (using GMainLoop and callbacks) and synchronous APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). Plus, it supports SSL through GnuTLS, giving you added security.
The library offers great client support for different types of authentication like Digest, Basic, and NTLM. It even supports XML-RPC for both client and server setups! And don’t forget about proxy support – yes, it includes authentication and SSL tunneling too!
If you’re ready to install the LibSoup library on your GNU/Linux system, just head over to Softpedia. Download the latest version of the software you need, save it wherever you want, then uncompress it in your current directory.
Next up, open your Terminal app. Navigate to where you extracted the archive file; for example: cd /home/softpedia/libsoup-2.49.1
. From there, run ./configure && make
. This command sets everything up.
If everything went smoothly during compilation, you'll need to run either make install
or sudomake install
, depending on whether you're logged in as root or have user privileges. This will install LibSoup system-wide so you can start using it in your projects!
Go to the Softpas website, press the 'Downloads' button, and pick the app you want to download and install—easy and fast!
