KakaoTalk is a simple and fun app for macOS that lets you chat with your Kakao friends, share files, and get creative with a bunch of cool emoticons!

User-Friendly Interface

KakaoTalk has a friendly interface where you can easily see your contact list, find friends, and even search for new ones. While you can check out your profile, the main window doesn't let you do too much. But don't worry; it's still super easy to use!

Chatting Made Easy

When you click on a friend's mini profile, you can start chatting right away! You can also check their status and share files or those awesome emoticons. The Emoticons window is really handy because it gives you quick access to tons of emoticons organized into different groups.

Customize Your Chat Experience

The chat window has a top toolbar where you can make some cool adjustments. Want to change how transparent the window is? You got it! You can also turn notifications on or off, keep the chat window above other apps, invite more friends to join the conversation, or even leave the chat room if you need a break.

Mobile Device Login Required

It's important to note that you'll need to log in through a mobile device before accessing KakaoTalk on your Mac. If your account isn't set up on a supported mobile device first, then the desktop app won't work for you.

Log Out Issues

If you decide to "unregister" from your mobile device, guess what? Your desktop app will log out automatically! That means you'll have to log back in using your smartphone first before getting back onto your Mac.

Add Friends Challenges

We ran into some trouble trying to add friends directly from the desktop app. So we had to find them using our mobile phone instead and sync everything back to our Mac. Unfortunately, there's no way to edit your profile or remove friends from your contacts list using the desktop version.

Switching Between Devices Smoothly

The good news is that if you start chatting on your phone, you can pick up right where you left off on your Mac—and vice versa! Plus, you can check out past conversations and even lock KakaoTalk with a password for extra privacy.
