Description

JFreeChart is an open source and freely distributed software project written entirely in the Java programming language and designed from the ground up to be used for generating all sorts of charts under any Linux kernel-based operating system.

The application supports all sorts of charts, including pie charts (2D and 3D), meter charts, time series charts, symbol charts, combination charts, candle stick charts, as well as bar charts (stacked or regular, with an optional 3D effect).

The program supports wafer map charts, line charts, area charts, Pareto charts, simple Gantt charts, scatter plots, bubble plots, wind plots, dials, histograms, thermometers, and many other types of charts.

The project also offers access to data from any source via dataset interfaces, support for multiple secondary datasets and axes, tooltips, printing, zooming, direct export of charts and plots to JPEG and PNG, support for servlets, and comprehensive API documentation.

To use the JFreeChart in your programs to create charts, download the latest release from the project’s website or from Softpedia, save the archive on a location of your choice, extract the contents of the archive with an archive manager utility, and run the ‘java -jar jfreechart-1.0.19-demo.jar’ command in a Terminal app to view the demo. Please read the README.txt file for more information about how to build the library and integrated it in your apps.

As mentioned, JFreeChart is written entirely in the Java programming language, which means that it will support any computer operating system where the Java Runtime Executable (JRE) and Java Development Kit (JDK) technologies are available, including all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. It is independent of a desktop environment of computer platform, supporting 32 and 64-bit installations.
